BTAT member benefits

The Business Taskforce on Accessible Technology is an Employers' Forum on Disability (EFD) initiative to help members to become more 'Disability Confident' when developing, investing in and procuring technology.

BTAT provides EFD gold members with a unique and practical opportunity to influence this global agenda.

Participate

BTAT encourages member led learning that brings about change. For example, members helped us to develop a toolkit for accessible ICT. This includes our 'Accessible ICT Maturity Model' designed to help members move from potential legal risk to innovators in accessible ICT. Members also help shape and deliver webinars to workshops on accessible technology.

Influence

Our work to set the standard for accessibility in business has been recognised by the British Standards Institute, the EC e-inclusion programme and the United Nations Education, Scientific and Cultural organisation. Our gold members are actively involved with these organisations. We are starting to develop guidance on procuring accessible technology and designing barrier free e-processes and BTAT provides an opportunity to be actively involved in this new and exciting venture.

Collaborate

One of the biggest challenges in moving this agenda forward is encouraging the ICT sector to share accessibility expertise. For example, many operating systems already take into consideration the needs of disabled users; however the vendors do not advertise these features or accessibility support. BTAT provides a high profile forum for sharing and promoting this expertise for the mutual benefit of the business community and disabled people.
